When my Magellan 1412 GPS is plugged into the oem car charger, the battery gauge shows the number of bars cyclically increasing (the nearly universal 'battery charging' indicator). The battery is being charged. In a few hours, the battery gauge shows all five bars solid, and they remain that way even after unplugging the charger, and the 1412 will operate on battery power alone for well over an hour.
